Foreign Policy- Military Power
I think one of our biggest political issues is we are no longer the #1 economy in the country, We are probably close to no longer having the strongest military in the country which makes me interesting yet concerned. I chose Ben Carson to look at this issue because I thought he had some good points to his argument. He believes that because of how much we have weakened our military power we are now having to change our foreign policy's/ Military Policy's regarding issues like the Assad Regime with chemical weapons.
You can't disagree with this because our military is the weakest its been in a long time. Our Navy is at its smallest size since 1970, air force since 1940, and in the marines half of their non deployed units are not ready. Its making generals quit and breaking our military apart. While all at the same time our enemies are getting stronger, world is getting more corrupt and our allies are getting more unfaithful because they are no longer feeling as safe and protected.
I believe that this is a very strong argument because it's fact, our military is getting weaker and we are going to face repercussions from this. If its the safety of our citizens, relations with allies or superiority over our enemies. We have become ignorant to this because our generations have not seen significant war on our soil, and have always felt relatively safe and have become lackadaisical. These are changes that we have yet to see affect our daily lives but I believe it wont be long.
He lacks to talk about how by cutting the military it allows the government more money to distribute into things such as education and free healthcare. These things benefit the well being of our society and make positive changes in our society that you can see in your every day lives, unlike the increased threat of violence from our lack of military power.
My question is how would Carson increase our military back to its size to regain trust in our allies and give us our position back while at the same time find alternate ways to better increase and support our society and community through things such as education.
