Crime Scene Investigation
Project Summery: In this project we were assigned a partner and a crime scene scenario to solve. In order to solve our crime we did many things including casting, fingerprinting, DNA testing, blood typing, toxicology report, coroners report and other skills to properly investigate the crime in order to figure out what happened and who did what. For each one of these skills my partner and I switched of writing Evidence Logs describing how the evidence was processed and what that piece of evidence taught us.
Reflection: In this project I felt my partner and I worked well together and separated the work load well. But at times I had a hard time staying focused and using my class time to do my Evidence Logs. In turn I found my self doing my Logs at home. But in this project I enjoyed learning fingerprinting, casting and DNA processing. But I enjoyed how much different this project was and how independent it was but that's what made this project difficult.

Durango Natures Studies Habitat
Assessment Project
Project Reflection
We conducted several field surveys at Durango natures Studies consisting of several water tests and estimating the frog population on the property. We then took all the data we acquired and wrote a scientific paper about it and all the other information we learned about bullfrogs and leopard frogs. Then gave D.N.S. are opinions on how they could improve there property and fix there problems.
I am not very proud of my paper. But considering this was my first scientific writing I over came a lot of problems and frustrating writing this almost seven to eight page paper. After writing this paper I think it is going to make lab reports and other scientific papers in the future much easier to do.
The first part of this project was a lot of fun for me. I enjoyed learning how to identity many species of frogs. Including their scientific names and key carecteristics. The field work at D.N.S. was cool as well, catching the frogs for me was the best part of the hole project. As well as getting to leave the school for a little field trip for half the day. I learned about the most effective and accurate way to catch frogs, and how mark recaptures works.
Monkey Meal Planning
In this project we created meal plans for rescued chimps and monkeys at the Primate Rescue Center in Kentucky. We did this to help them give the animals more diverse and interesting meals. So to start we learned about the diets of monkeys and chimpanzees, and did some research about the Primate Rescue Center in Kentucky. After learning about the purpose of the PRC,we began creating special meals for the monkeys and chimps that contain were within the specific proportion of quantity carbs, fats, and sugar. Check out the meal I created below.

Dissection
Project Description
In this project we had three choices of specimens, cat, fertile pig, and shark. In the dissection we learned many things including External Anatomy, Reproductive, Respiratory, Nervous, and Circulatory system. We were tested on these by a final oral exam. We did this by going through our specimen locating, identifying and explain all the organs and other elements functions. |
