(food project)
Summery: In this project we wrote odes about a dish special to a specific Spanish speaking country and cooked this dish. In order to do this we learned lots of food vocabulary, cooking commands and whats special about our dishes. For exhibition we exhibited our Odes about our dished (you can read mine below), and the dish we cooked.
Reflection: I thought it was a relatively fun project because of how we got to cook a dish from another country and learn all about it. Lots of the food at exhibition I had never really ever seen, heard of or at even tried before, so that was really fun. It was also really interesting seeing how different cultures or countries eat completely different kinds of food. The most challenging part of the project was writing the Ode. This was hard because we had to incorporate cultural aspects of the dish as well as lots of adjectives about how out dishes tasted without actually eaten the dish because we didn't cook them till the night before exhibition.

Directions
Chop onions, bell pepper and celery · Corta las cebollas en trozos, el pimento rojo y el apio Heat oil in pan to sauté onion, bell pepper, and celery for 3 min. · Calienta el aceite en la cacerola luego saltea los trozos de cebollas, el pimento y el apio Put garlic and thyme in and stir for 30 sec · Pon el ajo y el tomillo en la cacerola y remueve por treinta minutos. Put beans with liquid into pan then bring it to a simmer before adding rice. · Pon los frijoles con líquido en la cacerola luego Hierve a fuego lento antes de añadir el arroz. Mix it all together then add salt and pepper. · Mezcla todo junto y añade la sal y la pimienta. |
Spanish Kids Story
Project Description
In this project we picked a Spanish speaking country in Central- South America to research. I picked Costa Rica, I learned about foods, religions, hobbies, family structure, festivals, ceremonies, holidays, climate, weather and so much more. We also did this for the specific town our book was going to be focused on. We did this to be able to write an accurate book in Spanish about our country that would be fun for kids and would teach them something about Spanish speaking counties. Our exhibition for this project was taking our final books to Needham Elementary and reading them to 1st-2nd graders.

Project Reflection
At first I was not to excite about this project but the further we got into it the more I started liking it. I had a hard time writing my story and getting correct grammar and correct order of words at first. But I overcame this by turning in multiple drafts for my teacher Dave to critic. I really enjoyed making the book with all its pictures and colors but my favorite part was getting to read to all the little kids at Needham. I felt that my pictures really helped bring the story together and made it a lot more interesting as well as interactive for the kids. Considering I had never wrote a kids book or a book in general before this project, I feel I did pretty good and learned a lot about how to make a book as well as a lot about the country of Costa Rica.

Project Description
Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday known as Day of the Dead. Its a time to remember your ancestors that have past and calibrate them their after life. For are project we make a sculpture of a ancestor or a animal of yours that has past, we called these sculptures Calacas in spanish meaning skeletons .And we then wrote a poem in spanish about them.
