Play Script Cloned
Lacey Andersen_Garrett Coleman
Prologue:
(This is a story about a girl named Lexy, her father, and there dog Wilber.
Dad is sitting out side talking to him self (three months after cloning the new Wilber), wile looking at the retarded cloned Wilber that has L.O.S)
Dad: Man what did I do, look at this dog! He has so many problems. I regret ever cloning him. Everybody was right, cloning is not the answer I should have adopted a new dog. How am I going to tell Lexy that Wilber died and this is just the cloned dog??
I remember the day when Wilber died. Lexy was playing in the grass with him…
(Flash back. Lexy playing with dog in the yard (slow music) showing how much she loves her dog. )
Lexy: O look dads home! (Wilber goes running into the drive way)
Come back Wilber…. NO!!
(Dad runs dog over dog with truck)
(Flash back ends)
Chorus:
I remember that day
I was watching through the fence
Seeing Lexy and Wilber run around playing
And then all I heard was a yelp
I new something was wrong
Scene 1:
(Dad sitting out side thinking about the past. After his flashing back on the day Wilber died he gets mad and calls the vet Ms. Andersen that let him clone Wilber)
Dad: Ring… ring…
Vet (Ms. Andersen): Hello, how are you.
Dad: How could of you let me clone him. His life is so terrible with all the defects!!
Vet: How is this my fault?
Dad: Ms. Andersen you were the one that let me clone him!
Vet: No. No I said I highly recommend not doing it. I did not agree with cloning but I was legally supposed to give you all your options. I thought the best decision would be to adopt another dog. The cloned Wilber will be nothing like before; life is a thing that shouldn't be taken advantage of. You have to cherish it while you have it because, one day it will end. All lives end. And your new cloned dog will have a totally different personality its just going to look the same. It’s not right to play God. But you did not listen. You did not care because your daughter would be heart broken if she finds out he dies.
Dad: But what should I do. You never told me about all these defects
Vet: Yeah I did we talked about how there are a lot of defects. Like L.O.S., this is when their organs are too big, and rapid aging is another defect. It might make a social disturbance; you could loose friends over it. And retardation is another defect as well.
Dad: I really screwed things up this time.
Chorus:
(One of Wilber's dog friend that does not like how they chose to clone him. He helps show how bad the cloning went. And keeps saying how they should not have cloned Wilber.)
You new that it was not right to clone
And it did not solve your problems
It just made them worse
You saved your daughters pain then
But what will happen when the cloned dog dies
All you have done is postponed her pain
She needs to learn the meaning of life and death
When you cloned Wilbert you thought
It was okay when some thing dies
Because you can just get a new cloned one
I hope you have learned
That it’s not like that
And Lexy needs to know that two
Scene 2:
Lexy: Dad, Wilber is not acting like himself.
Dad: He is okay; he's just got a little cold
Lexy: No, he seems like a whole different dog Dad.
Dad: He is okay!!
Lexy: Dad he just ran into the fence!
Dad: Lets give him a little bit of time and then see how he is doing, go let him play with the other dogs
Lexy: Okay.
(9 minuets later)
Lexy: Wilber is not playing with his favorite toy, or his favorite dog friend any more??
Dad: Lexy sit down, we need to talk
Lexy: (Sits down)
Dad: You know when the car hit Wilber. And then we took him to the vets
Lexy: Yeah
Dad: Wilber died that day. I did not have the heart to tell you so I cloned him. The Wilber at our house right now is the cloned version.
Lexy: So that’s why he has been acting weird all this time.
Dad: Yes I am so sorry I did not tell you before. I have learned my lesson. And Lexy always remember that cloning is and was not the answer. I made a big mistake
Chorus:
See I told you
Wilber is retarded
He is nothing like he was before
You should have listened to the doctor
And adopted a new dog or gotten a puppy
Or something
He learned a lesson from all this
Cloning is and was not the answer
He made a big mistake
See what you can take away from this story
Is that even if cloning looks all good
And glamorous at first
And could answer all your problems
It most likely won't
Learn from their mistake
And then make the right decision
Don’t clone
(Three months later the cloned Wilber dies from L.O.S., Lexy is heart broken and has still not forgiven her dad for cloning Wilber. They go and adopt a puppy one week later.)
