Model U.N. Reflection

1) The advice I would give to students beginning this project in the future is stay focused. It starts out pretty cool and interesting personally and I was really engaged in the topics at the start. Then near the middle/end I started getting lazy with my research and speech writing and was not spending my class time very well so I found my self with a lot of unnecessary home work. The key to this project is to not do what I did and stick with it all the way through because at the end it turns out really cool and very rewording. And practicing your speech a lot is very important so that if you need to change some thing in it one the spot or last minute you will be able to do that with no problem,
2) The habit of hart and mind for me that I was the most proud during the conference was critical thinking on the spot Because at the last minute I had to change a section of my speech because the resolution that I was talking about had been changed. as well with thinking of good meaningful comments to ask the speakers to help me and others clarify what the speakers country opinion was. As well considering that not that much of the conference was planed out before had to make it all up on the spot and control the conference.
3) The thing I would do differently in this project if I could do it over again would be to do a lot better research. Because when we got into the conference I still had a few fuzzy places in my countries perspective. If I had been more knowledgeable with my countries opinions I would have been able to be more accurate with answering questions and only signing amendments that I am positive my country would agree with 100%.
4) At this moment I can not think of one speech, resolution, amendment, or comment by one of the delegates that was the most interesting. Because every one did a very good job and even the people that are not very good public speakers did very well. All the speeches were put together very nicely and there was very good comments on the speeches that were very direct and meaningful to the situation. And this is why I could not just choose one specific action.

Brazil’s Perspective on Israel and Palestinians
Although the Jews have no other place to go, neither a historical land to call their own, and have been kicked out of every other country, Brazil thinks that there should be a Palestinian state in Israel because Palestinians have been mistreated, and need a place to call home, just as much as the Jews do.
Palestinians and Jewish people have had a long history. The Jews claim that the land that is now Israel is rightfully theirs and was set aside as a place for the Jews. When the Palestinians claim it is theirs as well, and have evidence that it is their holy land and the place were their ancestors lived. This has made lots of conflicts between the Jews and Palestinians. In the World Politics Review it said, “Brazil and Israel have a history of being friends, But their political relations hit an all time low when Brazil announced that they want a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders in Israel.”(Goforth). In the Brazil Recognizes Palestine article it talks about how Brazil thinks that having a Palestinian state would be the best solution to improve the peace in the middle east thought negotiations and not violence. Brazil is also willing to mediate a Israel- Palestinian Peace talk(Brazil Recognizes). Because it is not fair to kick either one of them out of Israel, they both have so much invested in the land and have been able to live together in the past peacefully. All the past tries to improve the peace in Israel did not work, like the 1947 UN partition plan. All it did was in a lot of ways start the 1948 war. Brazil is hoping that the same thing does not happen because the Palestinians should be a lot more willing and understanding this time and that it will not be forced by the UN like it was before.
Brazil would like to conduct a peace talk with Israel and Palestine because they are friends with both. Brazil believes that this issue has to be solved civilly and with out violence because all violence would do is hurt the relations between the two countries even more. They need to make negotiations with one another that would please both parties. Once the borders for the Palestinian state and Israel state are in place their shall be no act of ether side trying to take over the others land. If so the UN will come in and take away the same amount of land that the violating state tried to take and give it to the other state. If they still do not cooperate sanctions with be discussed or military action for last option possible.

Brazil (Lacey Andersen)
Israel Palestine Conflict
PALESTINE AND ISRAEL TWO STATE SOLUTION
The General Assembly,
Noting with deep concern that there is a tremendous amount of violence that has been accruing between Israel and Palestine over the land Israel since WW II to current day,
Deeply concerned that there has been many attempts and resolutions to resolve the problem but none have been able to make an impact significant enough to improve the issue, like the 1947 Partition plan that just made more problems,
Fully aware that Palestine in the past has denied any cooperation for a two state solution in the 1946 and 1947 partition plans,
Keeping in mind that Israel refuses to let any Palestinians have the right of return to Israel and keeps growing their territory of Israel by destroying Palestinian homes to make room for building their own,
Bearing in mind that the land Israel, used to be where all the Palestinians lived until the Jews came, (Map 3)
In return, leaving Palestinian refugees that are being treated inhumanely with no regard to them as human beings and their rights, their only other option was to flee the country, ( Doc. 2 & 4)
Realizing that there will never be complete peace in the Middle East but there is a lot that can be improved,
Believing that both sides have the right of a home land, neither one should have to leave but their will have to be compromises on both sides to succeed in improvement,
1. Proclaims a two state solution, with a Palestinian state close within the 1967 borders:
(a) Borders will be negotiated in a meeting to make both parties content, Brazil will direct this meeting how ever they feel is suitable to be most efficient;
2. Further recommends that after the borders have been set in place Palestinians will move in:
(a) 30% of refugees will be moved to the Palestinian state in the first year;
(b) Then 10% of the left over refugees will move in every year until it is full or they all move;
3. Declares according to how much room is left in the Palestinians state the Palestinians that do not fit will be taken in by the surrounding Arab states:
(a) Each state will take in only the percentage of people they can according to room and supplies;
4. Palestinians can live in the Israel state and Israel people can live in Palestinians state:
(a) They will all have the same rights in each state;
(b) They must fallow the rules and if not they will be reprimanded and will be mandatory for them to go back to their county and not return;
5.Sanctions or military action will be an option if the Palestinians or Israelis do not cooperate and follow the rules or agreements;
